Dogs in Alpine Park

As Alpine Park continues to develop and more residents move in, we’re excited to have our 4-legged friends join the neighbourhood as well. With a future 1-acre dog park located near the Village Centre and multiple pathways for dog-walking exploration, Alpine is just as friendly and safe for them as it is for our people.

To provide an enjoyable neighbourhood experience for our residents, visitors, and pets, please ensure dogs are kept unleash while in the community, as per City of Calgary bylaws. There are signs located throughout open spaces to help educate where dogs are welcome (ex. pathways) and where the City prohibits (ex. playgrounds).

If you see an unleashed or dog at large (without an accompanying owner), these are the steps that should be followed, as outlined by authorities:

  1. If this is an emergency and you or the people with you feel threatened, seek safety and call 911 to report the incident.

  2. If this is not an emergency, please call 311 and/or Nation Police non-emergency line at 403-271-7377 and have the following information ready for them:

  • Date
  • Time of day
  • Location
  • Description of the dog(s) (color, breed, etc)
  • Bylaw # assigned (if this is a repeat sighting/incident)
  • Any other relevant details (i.e. photos)

The more information that can be provided, the better authorities are able to help record and resolve the issues.

We look forward to watching our neighbourhood grow and see residents out and about, enjoying the amenities built just for you. It is the responsibility of all of us to ensure the community continues to be welcoming, inclusive, and safe for all.
